Job Title: Financial Reporting Accountant
Reporting To:  Financial Reporting Manager
Department: Finance

Location:
Lagos

Job Description

  • Act as a point of contact with auditors
  • Perform analytical review of the monthly income statement.
  • Review data posted into the Operating Expenses accounts for accuracy and to ensure they impact the correct accounts.
  • Raise manual journals to correct any error discovered during the review mentioned above.
  • Review asset/liability accounts to ascertain their completeness, accuracy, valuation and existence
  • Ensure accurate reporting of management fees
  • Prepare financial statements for statutory purposes and internal reporting (MIS).
  • Follow up and escalate issues from statutory audits.
  • Identify and escalate needs from the ERP system.
  • Monitor to ensure financial accounts are in compliance with Accounting standards (IAS, SAS, SA, IFRS) and GAAP
  • Prepare, update and provide links to the trend analysis for actual data only (IS).
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Financial Reporting Manager.
  • Preparation of exception report after month-end review.
Job Conditions
Normal MTNN working conditions. Extended working hours. Immense pressure at month end. Preparation of statutory financial statements within specified timelines. Turnaround time for financial statements generation. Feedback from external auditors on state of financial records. Compliance with local and international GAAP.

Requirements
  • B.Sc. in Accounting or any other related discipline.
  • A professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA)
  • 4 years finance and accounting experience which includes:
  • Experience within a leading organisation's financial department
  • Experience in working with enterprise financial systems.
  • Experience in telecommunications industry (desirable).

Job Purpose
Responsible for the maintenance of all Mechanical equipments on site for NG Power projects and ensures they are delivered in a professional, quality and timely manner, including the training and development of all engineers assigned to the sites.

Job Responsibilities

  • Development and Monitoring of Mechanical Spares lists and ensure that all spares are supplied in a timely manner.
  • Enhanced maintenance of the plant in order to improve on plant availability.
  • Training of personnel in order to improve the operations and maintenance of the power plants through hands on demonstration and knowledge transfer.
  • Institutionalization of safety management and culture on the sites to prevent where possible injuries or damage to plant or minimize these as appropriate (Health and Safety legislation and policies compliance).
  • Project engineering role when required as delegated by line manager.
  • Be a member of the management team at the power plants, contributing positively to the working relationships, work environment and the smooth/efficient running of the power plants.
  • Provide technical management and supervision to subordinates and junior staff members.
  • Preparation of specifications, processes and work orders.
Requirements

Knowledge/Skills:
  • Must be a COREN (Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria) registered member
  • Advance gas turbine operations and maintenance skills.
  • Computing skills: Proficient in words, excel and auto card etc.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Good manager of time and human capital.
  • Good presentation skills and communication to both private and public sector audiences.
